The feeling
The afternoon becomes
part of the keepsake.
A warm October gathering for eight children and their grown-ups. Tiny paper houses, friendly pumpkins and a table that feels like a village at dusk. Terracotta cloth and rust napkins give the cream paper a lovely place to shine.
The best part is something the guests make. Each child decorates a little house; an adult helps it stand. At the Little Lantern Parade, the unlit houses gather around three host-controlled lights for one shared reveal. Their own paper house goes home with them.

02 / Tablescape & décor
Paper, texture
and a gentle glow.
Rust hemstitch against woven terracotta. Cream paper against a low October sun. A few repeated shapes make the table feel like a little world.

The colour story
Cream paper and warm rust do most of the work. Honey comes from the light and gold stems; soft moss is a quiet pencil accent, without adding another object to the table.
Three open paper houses sit along the centre with five white pumpkins. Keep each house on a flat surface and away from guest handling. The low arrangement leaves faces visible across the table.
Set eight cream plates, clear tumblers, rust hemstitch napkins and write-in name cards. The tone-on-tone woven check gives the table texture without a busy white gingham pattern.
An adult leads two shared decorating stations of four children. Allow a gentle 20–30 minutes for decorating and adult assembly, then a five-minute parade and reveal. These are planning allowances, not tested timings.

04 / A little something to keep
Made by them.
Kept for a little longer.
A little house, made by its owner. Give each child their decorated, unlit sleeve and a separate flat “A little light to take home” tag. No handle, roof or extra packaging is needed.
The house is a folded sleeve, open at the top and underneath, with two upright gable peaks. Carry the sleeve and tag separately; nothing should be placed inside it for carrying. Every light, remote and charging component stays with the host.
Approximate cardstock consumption: $0.35 per guest, already within the $15.99 paper pack. Ink and tape are unpriced. This is a use-of-material estimate, not an extra purchase or a complete favor cost.

The Alela Moment
The Little Lantern Parade
Two small groups decorate their houses. An adult helps with the folds. Then the little village gathers around three host-controlled lights for a shared reveal.
05 / Make everyone welcome
A whole little village,
from a few sheets of paper.
Season & comfort
The eight illustrated chairs serve the children’s table. Confirm suitable chair/table heights, the children’s ages, supervision and separate adult seating before using this plan.
Keep the activity and reveal indoors, with a clear, well-lit walking route. Offer seated participation, a quiet place to pause and room for any mobility needs. Do not dim the room to create the reveal.
Use the supplied invitation and a soft moss pencil accent if it suits the guests. No additional purchased upgrade is included.
Your paper kit

Thirteen landscape sheets: three display houses, eight guest houses, one prototype and one spare. Each finished sleeve is 2.25 in square, with 3 in walls and 4.25 in gable peaks.
Ten folded name cards, ten flat tags, one 5 × 7 in invitation and one host sequence card. Names and event details are write-in blanks.
20 PDF pages: 18 cream cardstock sheets plus two ordinary instruction/host sheets. Print single-sided at 100% / Actual size with automatic page orientation. Measure the one-inch square first.
Separate printable file: little-lantern-club-printables.pdf. Print its artwork at 100% / Actual size. Names and event details are write-in blanks.
Paper prototypes have not been physically made. Check the actual stock, printer, folds and balance before preparing all guest pieces.

06 / Setup guide
A little preparation.
A more relaxed welcome.

Confirm the table and seating; refresh the order and delivery details. Make one house prototype using the actual cardstock, tape and light before the remaining batch.
An adult cuts the nets and windows and scores the folds. Pre-assemble three display houses; leave eight guest nets flat for decorating. Keep the prototype and spare separate.
Centre the cloth; count eight settings. Arrange the three display houses and five pumpkins along a narrow centre line, clear of guest hands and plate space.
Divide the 72 pencils between two four-child stations. An adult manages folding, tape and all cutting tools. Plan a separate clear working surface or clear table area before setting places.
Allow 60–90 minutes with two adults once furniture is in place, then a 20-minute buffer. This is untested planning time. Check clear routes, stable pieces and comfortable room light.
Guests carry unlit houses and separate tags to the display. Set them down before the adult switches on the three display lights. Remove all lights before handling; count three used plus nine reserve back to the host.
07 / The finishing details
Make it with care.
Then make it your own.
Fold one little house
- Print and measure one sheet. Cut its outer shape and eight rectangular windows; score the four dashed folds with a ruler and blunt tool. Adults do all cutting.
- Before folding, invite children to colour the flat walls at the two supervised stations. An adult handles the scored folds, tape and final assembly.
- Fold four equal walls into a square. Tape the narrow joining tab inside the first wall. Keep opposite gable peaks upright, with the top and bottom open.
- Check the sleeve stands flat and the adhesive holds. Centre one white rechargeable light only in a display sleeve after confirming the maker’s operating guidance and testing clearance. Never use a flame.
Light clearance to check: The nominal light diameter leaves about 0.34 in per side inside a 2.25 in footprint, before paper/tape thickness. This is a geometry calculation, not an operating or heat test. Keep paper clear of the light.

Don’t forget
Confirm one stable table, eight suitable children’s chairs, separate adult seating, eight cream plates and eight clear tumblers. Have a compatible printer, ink, a suitable charging adapter, clear tape, ruler, blunt scoring tool, adult cutting tools and a pencil sharpener. All are assumed existing and unpriced. Keep tools, charger and remote with an adult; save or recycle paper offcuts after the guests leave.
Here’s to little makers, welcoming houses and the lovely things we can make together. May every small light remind us of this afternoon.
Before this becomes your party: confirm ages, adult supervision, seating, table measurements, the paper/light prototype and event-date delivery. Then write the names and make the invitation your own.
Generated concept illustrations, not product photographs. The paper houses are a DIY interpretation of the supplied net. The supplied cut file establishes the house construction; the retail pumpkins are matte foam with short gold resin stems. All pictured furniture is assumed existing.
